Nursery (2 - 4), Reception (4 - 5)
We are delighted to welcome very young children to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) comprised of the Nursery and Reception Departments. Children may attend the ‘Wrens’ class from 2 years and progress into either ‘Robins’ or ‘Jays’ where they remain until transferring to Reception in the September following their 4th birthday.
On the basis of the evidence Ofsted recently collected, the EYFS provision at St Hilary’s was judged to be ‘Outstanding’.
The Nursery and Reception team plan themes that encompass the EYFS.
A UNIQUE CHILD
We believe that every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS
We believe that children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and their key person.
ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS
Our indoor and outdoor environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning.
LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
We believe that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.
The older Nursery children join the Reception classes for ‘club time’ on a daily basis, where they take part in purposeful activities that promote the different areas of learning
